Our Cookie Story
The First Batch
Growing up the importance and love of food & family was a huge part of my life. In 1992 when my dad retired he and my mom took a traditional biscotti recipe and got creative. They wanted to keep true to the twice baked tradition of the "biscotti" cookie, but wanted a softer version. Every year during the holidays they would gift their delicious creation to friends and family. After my mom's passing in 2004 I carried on the tradition of making the cookies during the holidays, but it wasn't until something ignited in 2023 when I thought of starting this business. It was in part due to my dad's passing in 2021 and a desire to carry on a part of my parents legacy.
Cantucci By Vitucci, LLC is born
I first heard of cantucci from watching Food Network and I was intrigued as it was described as "biscotti's cousin", (not to mention that it rhymed with my surname). The difference between biscotti v. cantucci is up for discussion. The basic difference I found, (other than cantucci originating from the Tuscany region in Italy), is that "biscotti" in Italy encompasses all cookies, whereas cantucci is the word used in the U.S. to describe the type of Italian cookie we know as "biscotti". To be accurate the recipe is for cantucci morbidi (soft in Italian), but since that isn't the most pleasant sounding word, I decided on just cantucci. Hence, Cantucci by Vitucci, LLC came to be. Using the basic recipe created by my parents years before, I started incorporating various fruits, nuts, and flavors. Only the highest quality of ingredients are used, with the largest coming from the love of my parents for each other, family, friends & food.
